On Saturday 15th March, after classes at the Polish school, students from grades 3-10 set off for Cockatoo Island. We went together to the bus stop and boarded the tram to Circular Quay. From there, we took a ferry directly to Cockatoo Island, where we stayed in tents. After unpacking and finding a place to sleep, we went to a nearby café for ice cream, cupcakes and drinks. Then we split into four groups and played a game of hide and seek. We searched for envelopes with tasks all over the island – there were games with balloons, symbols and riddles. For completing the tasks, we received gum, light sticks and badges. In the evening, we relaxed in the tents with guitar and Polish songs. Then there was a dance party with light sticks won, and for dinner we ate hot dogs. We ended the day by the campfire, roasting marshmallows and getting ready for bed. The second day started with breakfast, we had toast with Nutella, jam and honey and fruit. Then in the hangar there was a team game – a combination of a quiz and a treasure hunt. We looked for cards with numbers and answered questions by moving around the board. It was great fun and the winning team reached the finish line first. After the game we went for a sweet treat in the cafe and then the teachers treated us to ice cream and cookies. We took some polaroids, sang to the guitar and spent some more time together. Finally we packed up and went back to Barangaroo Wharf by ferry. It was an amazing trip full of joy, fun and sweets. Thanks to the teachers we had a great time and we can’t wait for the next trip!
